facebook friends

By James Hill at 30 Mar 00:19

Today I got a facebook friend request from a guy I went to highschool with. Actually it's not the first time i've recieved a friend request from him, in fact it's about the fifth or sixth I've got from him in the past year, all of which I've ignored. It's not because I dislike the guy, it's because I haven't seen nor spoken to this person in nearly eight years and therefore he technically isn't a friend of mine, nor do I want him knowing my daily experiences, my relationships, my photos, my life.

Now I could add him as a friend, file him under a friends list of "not really a friend" friend, and then restrict that friend list to all of my facebook life. But why bother. Why are people so obsessed with having a high facebook friend count. Why the fuck do people want me on their friend list only to never speak to me.

Anyway today's message wasn't much different except it had the following attached message.

Add me u cockhead

Nice way you'd treat a potential facebook friend. I'm assuming he's serious otherwise he would have followed with a nice jovial :p emoticon or even a ;-).

End rant. Only to ask facebook for one extra feature, to automatically cull my friends list of people that aren't really my friends. Perhaps it can notify me of people who have never sent me a message or written on my wall, or is not in any of my photos and then state the following.

Joe Blogs has been a "friend" of yours for the past 3 months of which he has never sent you a message, written on your wall or appeared in any of your photos. Are you sure he's a friend? Would you like facebook to cull Joe Blogs from your facebook list?
